One of the advantages of being a paid user on medium.com is the ability to get a unique account on me.dm. I’ve always found the handle appealing, and I must admit, “@dirkprimbs@me.dm” does have a certain ring to it.
However, there was a tinge of disappointment when I discovered that Medium hadn’t incorporated any authentic fediverse integration. To put things in perspective, the fediverse allows one to compose and peruse comprehensive blog posts across its network. This means enthusiasts on platforms like Mastodon can follow your content and leave comments that appear right under your articles — and it’s mutual! Surprisingly, Medium chose to bypass this innovative feature.
But, being the enthusiast that I am, I sought to bridge this gap on my own.
Starting today, all my articles on this platform will also be available on https://thoughts2words.kopfstim.me — a private WordPress site where I’ve incorporated an ActivityPub plugin. Thanks to this, you can keep up with my content on the fediverse by following @Dirk@thoughts2words.kopfstim.me.
That is, of course, if I’ve gotten the configuration right. Fingers crossed! 😊
